No matter how long you’ve been in the video production business, you’ve either worked as a freelancer for another company or have hired freelancers to work for you. When everything is working correctly, this is a great way to help others profit and can serve as a great, low-stress income stream for you.
Take the time to review their work when possible and provide them with feedback soon after the shoot. Make sure that their shooting style matches yours and that they do the other things necessary to mirror you in the field when you cannot be there. You don’t want your freelancers to be like fish out of water when your client is used to having things done a certain way. The less prepared they are before a shoot, the more obvious it will be to your client that this isn’t one of your normal shooters.
Who’s managing your image and your promotions? Are you with an agency? One that has a PR, media buying and branding design facilities? No? I’m apalled! Seriously though most companies can’t afford to go with an agency and pay $12,000 – $19,000 for a 6 page website (real quote, I rang up).
A video testimonial is better. Ok, the trust may not become much better, but at least to be able to see and hear a real person giving the testimonial can be more favourable. You can sometimes see video testimonials after a seminar for example. Members of the audience talk about how they found the event.
Now that is not to say that all High Priced Video sets are not worth it, many truly are. Check out who is putting out the product, that alone will tell you a great deal about the quality. If you know the Marketer, the reputation then you know if you are getting your moneys worth. See with my Blog I discuss stuff like this to save you time, money, etc, on not needed programs.
Let’s turn now to the other side of the coin; attorneys who create video on their own. There are lawyers who think they can master this video thing all by themselves. Some can, but most have not yet been able to do that. Some lawyers don’t want to spend the money to shoot video with an experienced explainer video company. Instead, they want to do it all themselves.
Further, buying budget equipment can actually have a detrimental effect. A wobbly camera with a grainy image and poor audio defeats the whole purpose of a corporate video. You could actually be doing your business harm by producing and displaying a bad quality piece – think what this says about your company, if your own video is of shoddy quality, what will your services be like?
Once you have your video ready to go, make sure your name and contact information is present at least at the beginning and end of the video. Now to distribute your video select keywords that will match your subject matter. Video distribution sites which are free for your use are available to make sure your video gets to as many targets as possible. Have fun with video, you will make mistakes but with time you will be turning out professional videos that will help your business grow.
